Motorcycle Chains are the best way of keeping your bike secure from thieves. Especially when you’re able to lock the chain to something like a post or ground-anchor. If you have the ability to carry a chain round with your bike (top box or under seat storage) then I’d really recommend doing so, I’ve been the victim of a bike theft and as you can imagine it ain’t nice.

3. Oxford Monster XL Chain Lock
Price: £42.49 (Normally £59.99)
This is the lock I personally use now, since my GSX-R600 was stolen a couple of years back (I stupidly didn’t use a lock/chain before). It’s pretty much the toughest lock I could find for a reasonable budget. The only reason I don’t rate it as our top pick, is because of the price being double the alternatives. But believe me, if your budget can stretch to the £100 price bracket, this thing, as the name suggests, is an absolute monster.
The Monster XL Motorcycle chain is ‘Sold Secure Gold Approved’ which many insurance companies will offer you a discount for. It has 14.5mm hex alloy steel chain and the padlock looks even tougher with a hardened boron steel casing. So I’d say if you can afford £100 go for this one!

4. Mammoth Security Hexagonal Lock and Chain
Price: £42.49 (Normally £59.99)
The 12mm thick chain and 11mm hardened steel shackle lock of the Mammoth Security Hexagonal lock and chain make it another tough one. It benefits from being 1.8m long, which for the price is a great buy. This is great for those that need a longer chain e.g. if you’re locking to a ground anchor/pole that you can park quite close enough to for a smaller chain.

Now I write this knowing that as soon as I hit the publish button, the price of this lock is bound to go back up to the £150+ mark. But whilst it’s this low, I’d be crazy not to include it in our top 5.
