Choosing the right set of winter gloves for the cold winter months of motorcycle riding can be a difficult beast. There are hundreds, no seriously there literally are hundreds, of motorcycle gloves to choose from. Different shapes, styles, features, brands and then there’s the dilemma of whether you go for heated gloves or normal winter gloves. We’ve simplified the process by picking out our top 5 thermal winter gloves and our top 5 heated motorcycle gloves.

We’ve kept our criteria simple here for choosing the best gloves:

They must be good value

Ok it sounds obvious, but we all want a good deal. So we’re only looking at the range of gloves that fit an everyday budget, so you won’t find the high-end expensive gloves here. Our focus is keeping costs to minimum…whilst getting a decent set of protective and, of course, warm gloves.

They must be tried and tested

We’re only interested in gloves that have been rubber stamped by the most important critics in the motorcycle industry, you! The everyday rider. We’re checking out the top reviewed gloves to make sure that we’re only recommending gloves if there’s plenty of owners that can vouch for them.

Oh….and importantly, the gloves must be available to buy still.

Top 5 Winter Motorcycle Gloves

Richa Carbon Winter Gloves

Spada Blizzard 2 Gloves

2. Spada Blizzard 2 Waterproof Gloves

Price: £35
In at number 2, Spada’s Blizzard 2 gloves. Featuring a 100% waterproof membrane, they’re perfect for our typical British weather. The thing we liked most about these is the fact that they don’t feel too bulky. A lot of winter gloves become so bulky and thick that you lose any sense of control over the throttle and levers. Whereas these still leave you with a decent feel for the controls. These also benefit from a Thinsulate lining making them great comfortable gloves for those cold winter months.

Spada Enforcer Winter Gloves

3. Spada Enforcer Waterproof Winter Gloves

Price: £69
Our third choice is another set of gloves from Spada. Ok so these are a little more pricey than the previous two options, coming in at £69.99 at SportsBikeShop. But the reason they make it in to the top 5 for us is due to their sporty performance styling and protection. With carbon knuckle protection, something you’d expect from a more race styled glove. So for us these provide a great combination of waterproofing, warmth, comfort and protection.

Richa 2330 Winter Gloves

4. Richa 2330 Waterproof Gloves

Price: £36
Admittedly these winter gloves will only suit certain riders, as they’re a mitten style with 3 fingers in one section and two in the other. The main benefit of this style of glove is there’s less area for the cold air to flow in, so great at keeping your fingers/hands warm. They have a Thinsulate lining and come in at a very reasonable £36.99. The gloves have an average rating of 4.5 based on 45 reviews from customers at SportsBikeShop, so you’re in safe hands here.

Top 5 Heated Winter Motorcycle Gloves

Gerbing XR-12 Heated Gloves

1. Gerbing 12V XR-12 Hybrid Heated Motorbike Gloves

Price: £158
Our top pick in the heated winter gloves section are these Gerbing XR-12 Gloves. They wire straight into your battery which is easy even for the least tech-savvy rider. They provide an incredible warmth for riding during the terrible cold British winter, heating the entire length of the fingers. If you prefer there’s an optional battery (although pretty sure it’s about £80). Overall these are our top recommendation if you’re after a set of heated motorcycle gloves, at £158 you’ll be grateful on day 1 that you bought them. With 70 reviews scoring them over 4.5 out of 5 at SportsBikeShop you can rest assured that these mega comfortable, waterproof gloves are money well spent.

Gerbing Short Winter Heated Gloves XRS-12

2. Gerbing 12V XRS-12 Short Gloves

Price: £152
Put simply these are the shorter versions of the Gerbing XR-12 gloves, for riders that prefer a shorter glove length. Equally great quality and just as likely to leave you wondering why you didn’t buy heated gloves sooner.

Gerbing Tex-12 Gloves

3. Gerbing 12V Tex-12 Gloves

Price: £100
Gerbing has done it again. They’ve becoming, if not already, the go-to brand for heated motorcycle gloves, so it’s good to see so many options. Now these gloves are ‘technically’ aimed at moped riders, why you ask? No idea! My understanding is it’s because the material is designed for lower speed riding, but reviews from customers at SportsBikeShop suggest that they’re absolutely fine on other bikes. At £100 these are the lowest priced of the options available and seem to do the job of keeping your hands warm…perfectly well.

Gerbing G-12 heated winter motorcycle gloves

4. Gerbing 12V G-12 Gloves

Price: £120
So these probably aren’t going to win any design awards, as they’re pretty boring in terms of style…but seriously, who cares during winter riding. I’d sooner get to work feeling like my hands had been cuddled by a warm kitten for the whole ride. That’s what these will do, leave your hands feeling warm and toasty no matter how cold the British winter. At £120 these are cheaper than the alternatives from Gerbing, but personally I’d pay the premium and get the XR-12 gloves.

RST Thermotech Heated Gloves

5. RST CE Thermotech Heated Gloves

Price: £160
At £160 these RST Heated gloves are a real winner. The heating element on these are powered by lithium batteries so no wiring to the bike necessary. The batteries provide between 2 hours and 4 and half hours of heat depending on use and heat settings. They’re fully waterproof and are CE approved for great peace of mind.

As a summary we’d suggest your first step should be to decide if you’re looking for Heated Gloves or just warm winter gloves. Once you’ve made that decision, try and set yourself a bit of a budget, so you can filter out the gloves that don’t fit in your price range. And finally use our guide to help you narrow down your search. Don’t forget to check out plenty of reviews from customers at SportsBikeShop too, real customers are the very best people to get genuine opinions from.
